Medical Education
Dr. Hendrischke was trained in Family Medicine at the General State Hospital in Bremen (1982-1988) and was a lecturer of Family Medicine at the Medical School, University of Göttingen from 1986-1991. In 1991-1999 he received a specialization as a Consultant in Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy at the University Hospital of Aachen.
From 1999-2002 he was the Director of the Dept. of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy of the Caritas Hospital in Saarbrücken.
Since 2002 he continues to his present position as the founding Director of the Dept. of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy General Hospital in Aalen, Affiliated Hospital of Ulm University.
He is a Fellow of the German Council of Psychosomatic Medicine DKPM and the German Society of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy DGPM. As a specialist in family psychotherapy and psychosomatic medicine, Dr. Hendrischke is an approved teacher and supervisor of the German Society of Family Systems Therapy DGSF and a chair for Balint groups. Being a member of the board of the German-Chinese Academy of Psychotherapy GCAP he has taught psychosomatic medicine, psychotherapy and family systems therapy in China since 2002. His special interests focus on psychosomatic medicine and the collaboration between mentalhealth specialists and medical health care practitioners. Concerning the integration of a biopsychosocial approach in the diagnosis and treatment of health care problems, Dr. Hendrischke has given over 150 national and international presentations on topics related to his work and is a frequent speaker at meetings of both health and mental health professionals. He is the editor of a book entitled Family, Systems and Health – Systemic Concepts for a Social Health Care System (2000), the author of a book about Family Systems Medicine (2012), a book about Psychoeducation of Patients with Chronic Pain (2016), a number of book chapters and original articles about hospital based psychosomatic medicine and is the translator of the american book Medical Family Therapy (1995) by Susan McDaniel, Jeri Hepworth and Bill Doherty
